A native to New Jersey, Dr. Lichtenstein graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He received the Williams Pitt Mason Award for Outstanding Achievement. Dr. Lichtenstein graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University, School of Dentistry, then completed the General Practice Residency program at Middlesex General Hospital (Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center).
Dr. Lichtenstein completed the Dental Anesthesiology Residency program at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and practiced part time in the Operating Room at LIJMC for nearly fourteen years. He provided anesthesia services for all types of patients in the hospital and for all varieties of dental and oral surgical procedures. Dr. Lichtenstein opened his sedation dentistry office in Holmdel, New Jersey, incorporating the facilities of a hospital operating room in a friendly, pleasant, private office setting.
Dr. Lichtenstein is a Diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology, a member of the American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists, a Fellow in the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and in the Academy of General Dentistry, a Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, as well as an Instructor in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. He has lectured extensively at anesthesiology review courses, at the Greater New York Dental Meeting, and has made presentations at national anesthesia conferences.
Dr. Lichtenstein does more than sedation dentistry; his services to organizations include extensive contribution to the New Jersey Dental Society of Anesthesiology as President, and in other Executive positions, Director of the summer anesthesia lecture review courses for the ADSA, and Treasurer for the national ASDA as well as participation in its special committees. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, and the Monmouth and Ocean Counties Dental Association.
